This was a little mushroom that I came across on my hike at Eau Claire Gorge. It took a few shots, but I finally managed to get it in focus at ground level (I couldn’t actually get my face close enough to the ground to see through the viewfinder).

I bet it doesn’t taste like ice cream though.

This looks like an Amanita Pantherina. It’s the classic red mushroom with white spots – this variety comes out more yellow than red. More people die eating this mushroom (Amanita) that any other mushroom. Still, it’s hunted and eaten for it’s special properties.
